Dr. Zheng Liu

Dr. Zheng Liu is a professor of engineering at the University of British Columbia (Okanagan). He founded the “Intelligent Sensing, Diagnostics, and Prognostics Research Lab” at UBC. Dr. Liu holds double Ph.D. degrees in Civil Engineering from Kyoto University (Japan) and Electrical Engineering from the University of Ottawa. He was with the National Research Council of Canada as a research officer and a full professor at the Toyota Technological Institute, leading the “Intelligent Information Processing Lab.” Dr. Liu’s research focuses on data/information fusion, applied machine learning and AI for industrial applications, measurement and instrumentation, computer and machine vision, industrial Internet of Things, and non-destructive evaluation. He has published over 200 peer-reviewed journal articles (32 first-authored) and three books. He is a fellow of SPIE and a senior member of IEEE and holds professional engineer licences in Ontario and British Columbia.
